Laminate
Laminated products have been around for over 100 years and gained popularity in the 1930’s when Formica began putting laminated countertops in diners, cafes, train cars and even the RMS Queen Mary! There have been many types of laminated countertops over the years including square edge and postformed versions, both types were equally popular through the 20th century. With the intense popularity of real marble, granite and quartz material countertops since the early 2000’s, laminate manufacturers have emulated the look of real marble, granite and quartz as well as offering similar edge profiles.

Solid Surface
Solid surfacing is an acrylic-based manufactured product composed of minerals, resins and pigments providing a seamless and nonporous surface. We are an authorized dealer AND certified fabricator for all the brands seen below. This type of product was one of the first in the countertop market that was nonporous and takes the nickname “solid surface” for that reason.

Granite
Granite countertops consist of natural stone which are heat and scratch resistant and are typically unique in color variations from one slab to the next. Granite countertops will need to be sealed periodically to protect from stains. There are thousands of granite choices since it’s mined and constantly evolving due to mining depths and locations, the deeper and more remote mining locations will demand a higher price typically.

Quartz
Quartz countertops have a uniform appearance, available in a wide variety of colors, are exceptionally hard and resistant to chips, dents and stains as well as heat resistant. The most noted aspect of quartz countertops is that they are very low maintenance requiring no sealing by the consumer.
The Italian company Breton patented the process of forming solid surfaces from quartz and resins. All quartz counters emanate from this single company. And this single company was started by one man, Marcello Toncelli. His company’s name, Brevetti Toncelli (roughly meaning Toncelli Patents), was condensed to Breton (Bre = Brevetti, Ton=Toncelli).
